I cropped the original image to an 8:10 ratio, then straightened the horizon on Photoshop. I created a brightness layer and adjusted the brightness settings until it was to my satisfaction. Then, I created a hue and saturation layer to brighten the background. Finally, using a black color and the paint brush, I made the subject not contrasted so she seemed to have a normal tone.
